China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Turkey are likely to be given waivers that could cap Iran’s crude oil exports at about 1.1 million barrels per day, US-based analysts at Eurasia Group said In 1973, foreign oil accounted for 35 percent of total U.S. oil demand. Half the canal's traffic is petroleum, and the ensuing crisis from its closure threatens Middle East oil shipments, which supply about 800,000 barrels a day to Europe. The listed 15 countries shipped 95.3% of all American crude oil imports in 2018. Among the above countries, the fastest-growing suppliers of crude oil to the United States since 2014 were: Algeria (up 756.7%), United Kingdom (up 258.7%), Norway (up 258.4%) and Russia (up 170.3%).
